“Hello, My Name Is…”

“Hello, My Name Is…”

We all remember “Hello My Name Is.” You meet someone for the first time, and here’s the scenario. You walk up to Tom because you don’t know who Tom is and say, “Hi Tom, it’s nice to meet you, who are you?” It’s not a question he wasn’t expecting you to ask. Tom responded and started telling you what he does. You asked Tom, “Who are you?” and Tom defined himself as what he does.

I am sorry, Tom, I didn’t ask you what you do, I asked who you are. I didn’t ask you what your job was or about your family; I asked you, “Who are you?” He begins to tell you about where he’s from. I didn’t ask you where you are from.

Tom has told you about his job and his family. Tom has told you where he’s from. He is running out of answers because he has no identity apart from having and doing.

You are a child of God before all those responsibilities.
