“I See You!”
“Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” John 4:29
Jesus told the woman more than her actions, including profound words about worship, but what she valued most was His knowledge of her. She expected Jesus to “tell her all things” concerning worship (verse 25), but she didn’t expect the Messiah to tell her, “all things that I ever did.”
She didn’t expect the Messiah to speak to her so knowingly, so personally, so intimately.
We all long to be known. No matter what your status is in life. But there’s a catch: we want to be known, but we’re also afraid to be known.
We’re not simply thirsty to be known; we’re thirsty to be known and accepted, and valued.
Jesus turns to look you full in the face and says, “I see you. I know you. I won’t run away as the others.
